The load that a bearing is capable of carrying will depend on the size of bearing, how many rolling elements are used within the bearing and the design of
the bearing race.

Radial Loads

A radial load is a force that is perpendicular to the rotational axis of a shaft.

Thrust Loads

A thrust load is the term used to describe a force acting  parallel to the rotational axis of a shaft

Advantages

•Low Cost

•Quiet

•Strength

•Easy to install

•Minimal space required

Disadvantages

•High Friction

•Require high level of lubrication.

المحمل أو الجزء الداخلى من البلية الملامس للمحور أو عمود الدروان مميزاته تكلفة منخفضة وبلا ضوضاء وقوى الخامة وسهل التركيب والعيوب يحتاج للتشحيم باستمرار بسبب الإحتكاك

The two most common plain bearings (bushes) used on our powertrain components are shown.  The top picture shows an example of a solid bearing / sleeve and the bottom picture shows an example of a thrust washer.

Solid Bearings are typically made from bronze, copper, brass and  are designed to support a radial load only whilst  thrust washers can only support thrust loads.
