Basic components in big baler part2 PICKUP

Basic components in big baler part2 PICKUP
3. Pickup
A. Pickup width + slip clutch
Pickup width between 1.98m and 2.40m as type of big bler
Four bar pick up assembly.
Two centering augers.
Raised and lowered hydraulicaly from tractor (single working cilinder)
Optional: PU stop system on rotor units. If stuffer shearbolt fails a signal from BCM VT controls a solenoid. That solenoid blocks the PU at the RHS drive sprocket.
B. Slip clutch
Pickup slip clutch - Standard + packer machines set at 1000 Nm (earlier at 800 Nm) and for rotor machines at 1450 Nm.
This setting is not adjustable
Slip clutch needs burnishing each year.
Watch out with pickupstop for burned clutch plates.

C. Pickup floatation
Upper colar : set maximum height
Lower collar : adjust ground force. Adjust this one with special tool.
1. Raise PU completely
2. Loose height setting collar and slide to right
3. Lower PU again
4. Insert special tool in 4 slots and behing force setting collar ring.
5. Relocate force setting ring as required
6. Raise PU again and place special tool back on its place.
7. Reinstall height setting collar.
D. Centring augers
Packer and packer cutter machines have the big undershot auger. undershot because the crop is pushed down as the auger turns.
Rotor machines have the small overshot auger. Overshot because the crop is lifted as the auger turns.
Centring augers run at 233 rpm

E. Pickup wheels
the minimum clearance should be 30 mm but in stony terrain it can be set at 50 to 80mm
The height of the pickup wheels can be set without a spanner. Just unleash the pin, change height and reattach the pin. (Like on combi '08)
remarks :
- possibility to mount a stone trap before the pickup so that projected stones cannot destroy the cab of the tractor.

F. Tines
Standard and packer cutter pickup tines are springs,
Rotor cutter machines are more solid and ar mounted on rubber blocks.
Also check if the pickup tines are not bended
Also check if the pickup tines touch the pickup guards.
BB9050/BB9060 : 112 tines
BB9070/BB9080 : 128 tines or 136 tines on rotor cutter models
Pickup runs at 140 rpm

G. Pickup guards
Pickup guards are tightened at the bottom to allow crop, which entered the pickup, to evacuate. This was also the case in '07 '08 machines. Before we had crop accumulation in the pickup.
The pickup tines cannot touch the guards as the tines wear out and brake easily.
H. Windguard

Plate windguard
Holds crop firmly in contact with pick up tines.
Adjustable with single chain.
Tines bolted on.
Roller windguard also holds the crop in contact with the tines.
The roller windguard is not driven. This windguard is used in large volume straw crops where blockages can occur.

A. Stuffer gearbox

Stuffer gearbox is driven by the LHS halfshaft from the main gearbox.
Goals of the stuffer gearbox :
- activate the stuffer
- drive the knotter gearbox
- drive the hydraulic pump for the density system.
Check the oil level with the glass
